After the Martin Agency landed Walmart’s digital business in early 2012, I switched gears to help build smart social/digital campaigns. Our first challenge for the year was a campaign to promote Walmart’s new revamped steak program. They’d made significant improvements, but shoppers were still skeptical, especially in social channels. By ramping up community management efforts, offering Q&A’s with internal experts at Walmart, and even surprising online skeptics with surprise Steak-overs, we managed to improve the perception of Walmart’s steak and exceeded sales benchmarks for the grilling season.
